Valerie Madonia

Repetiteur for the Arpino Foundation

Valerie Madonia is a graduate of Canada’s National Ballet School. She danced professionally for twenty years, with the National Ballet of Canada, American Ballet Theatre and the Joffrey Ballet. In addition, she has been a guest artist with Alonzo King’s Lines Ballet, Complexions, Armitage Gone! Dance, and at Les Gala des Etoiles. In 2005, she performed the role of the Princess in Stravinsky’s L’Histoire Du Soldat with the New York Philharmonic. Madonia appeared in four PBS Dance in America Specials and is featured in, Classical Ballet Technique, by G.W. Warren.

 

Madonia is ABT NTC certified and has been teaching, directing and choreographing for twenty-five years, most notably for the New School University (2000-2003), Louisiana Delta Ballet, Alaska Dancer Theatre, Boulder Ballet (2012), Joffrey Ballet School (1996-2010) and Colorado Ballet as Academy, Summer Intensive and Pre-Professional Director concurrently (2013-2017) and teaches biannually for the Yokohama Ballet Intensive. Recently, she has been a company guest teacher for American Ballet Theatre, created a new ballet, called “Soiree”, for the Joffrey School spring performance in NYC and is adjudicating and teaching master classes for The Universal Ballet Competitions across the USA.

 

As a repetiteur for the Arpino Foundation, Madonia has staged Round of Angels for The Russian Ballet Theatre, Light Rain Pas de Deux for Colorado Ballet and Ballet Arizona guest artists, Sea Shadow for ABT dancers at the Arpino Centennial Celebration and Italian Suite for The Lang College at the New School University.
